A Wooden Heart Aflame Poem by Dr John Celes

A Wooden Heart Aflame

A heart of wood is blazing high
A marvel to the looking eye
It burns and crumbles in the flame
Delighting all who watch the game
It breaks to pieces one by one
Until to ash, ’Tis fully done!

The heart of Jesus burns with love
For sinners all to come above
His heart too burned upon the cross
With forgiveness for mankind’s cause
Christ’s heart is live furnace of love
That yearns for souls, sin-free like a dove!
