About Wonder Poem by Gary Winkel

About Wonder

Your sentiments are striking
a chord on stone
thrown in a gospel choir
elevating my sweet time
to a single place
of faith.

Beginning to wonder
about wonder,
used to
be in awe and kiss
your upper lip and hit
our heads on the ceiling.

Climbing from the shadow
around your eyes
inside a desert body. Swimming
in a glacial palace. Stuck in forming
an opinion on loving
someone like you.

Saying a guitar strum
is moving alone
to tears of joy.
Quiet determination
to finish
up.
