Abuse He Fears Poem by pragya semwal

Abuse He Fears

A step backwards when you come near

Due to uncertainty, due to fear.

Eyes guarded
Haunched down

Ready to bolt
At any sound.

Tail between his legs
Head lowered
With eyes that once begged.

Softly you call
But he's unsure,

He wants to come near
But abuse he fears.

I watch as he turns to go
I call again,
Hesitant...his eyes say no?
