Across The Field Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

Across The Field

Rating: 4.8

Across the field I once did stare
Towards the woodland stark and bare
I felt the cold of autumn air
While leaves lay on the ground.

The early morning was so still
As sunlight rose above the hill
And warmed the bitter, morning chill
But could not warm my heart.

The sky was of the deepest blue
The frost was melting into dew
And I remember clearly too
Just how I felt that day.

But now that day has long since gone
I missed my chance to be someone
I wish for once that luck had shone
On me and brought me love.

This is a beautiful, well-crafted poem. I like the feeling and image that it captures about a melancholy memory. Keep up the great work. I also invite you to read and comment.

Good rhyming throughout the poem and a good picture of the sun rising from the horizon.

Andrew, very sad and emotional write gently penned with mother nature comparing fall with being such a sad time of year especially if you have experienced or about to a loss.... Very touching with much imagery.....Bonnie
