Activated Irritation Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Activated Irritation

It should not take,
An activated irritation.
Intended to provoke beyond the limits,
Of anyone's known and shown patience.
That begins to open the gates,
Holding back a punishment...
Unexpected but done,
By someone who has annoyed another.
Tolerating a comfort of disrespect.

And...
Continues to test,
Words heard yet ignores...
A doing to stop a doing,
Not to do anymore.
Like a child who repeats,
Opening to slam a door to close!

Until...
That day.
The muffeling sounds of a roar begins.
Disbelieving teeth seen exposed,
Are prepared to bite.
As eyes widen glistening with delight.
To bite and chew.
Relentlessly without remorse.
Nor a sign that shows,
Time to end the 'chewing out'...
Is there to come from one,
Taken for granted too long kept prolonged.
