Adoption Poem by Liz Catherine

Adoption

Rating: 5.0

She was very young
Her parents told her she wasn't theirs
She thought one day "Why aren't I theirs? "
They told her she is adopted
Knowing she is adopted she wanted to find her real parents
She waited eighteen long years to get the papers
She filled them out and brought them to court.
Her and her adoptive parents waited.
They waited for the court date
When it finally came they got scared
They were scared to find out what the judge would say
She wanted the judge to say "yes" to opening up the adoption records
So that she could find out who her real parents are.
The judge did end up saying "yes".
She found out who her real parents were.
She looked them up.
According to the records, her mother lives in New York
Her father lives in California.
She had no intention of meeting her biological father.
From what he heard, he was a drug addict, a drinker and an abuser.
Her mother did do some drugs and drank
But she did not do any of those things while pregnant
No one knows what the mother did after she gave birth
She was at a very young age when she gave birth.
She was going to become a single mom.
She did not want that.
She wanted to make sure that her little baby girl got a better life than she could give her.
The father ended up being married while the affair was going on.
The mother soon agreed to put a restraining order on the father
She never wanted to see him or talk to him again
As for the child, the restraining order is what is stopping her from wanting to meet the father.
Knowing all of this information about her parents,
she soon realizes that her mother did the right thing by putting her up for adoption
The mother would have not been able to maintain a healthy home for the child.
The mother was twenty-one.
No mother at twenty-one will be able to take care of a baby the way she wants to.
