Aerount Poem by grace mariner

Aerount

The dragoness sleeps in her dark lady cave,
her tail, covering her eyes like a cat by the hearth.
She prefers her silence as she dislikes most with voices and words.
She has found they feed her fire which she keeps stilled, fearing the damage she can inflict.
She has grown in 60 plus years into a fearsome creature, hidden by a false face.
She is beautiful in her ferocity, with green jealous eyes and burning red and orange scales.
She has no real need for the size or strength she possesses.
Her ability to destroy comes most eloquently and caustically from her words.
An exterior that does not warn her foes of the danger that stands before them.
They see only their victim that they have chosen to deceive and mock with sweet words and gestures without meaning.
Her hosts abusive nature feed that which makes her stir...scales standing on end and hatred glowing in deep red embers.
Our girl is impulsive, carrying with her a fiery tongue and an angry spirit.
Beware this dark lady, this well hidden beast!
When roused she will strike with neither warning nor mercy,
knowing all the secrets shared by ones she loved but never loved her back.
