Aeturnus Eternus Poem by Thomas L. Flores

Aeturnus Eternus

Through darkness that envelops, a finger traces silk
A yearning warmth from within, pleasured by the gentle curve of Venus
Moonlight accentuates lucid pools, baring her soul
Her eyes dance in my gaze
A primal urge is suppressed by forbidden fruit heeded, yet I struggle in vain

The Sirens they sing in unison with the music of the Moerae
Her body yields to my touch, I sense the time is near
To consummate my desires and join her in soulful match
Time stands still as though paused in Spring’s ritual,
A mating has occurred in mind

A journey bequeathed of earthly possessions lest purity of love,
a man sits upon paper throne
A shadow of himself, he seeks of days gone by,
strength of youth replaced by imperfect wisdom
A crown of thorns he displays, a sacrifice unto thyself

Mundane thoughts ascend, ashes part
Inspiration finds its lost muse
In a moment of pause, weary eyes find focus
Love revealed as savior unto my lost soul

Beneath me lays a virtuous a gift, sprung from the foam of the sea
Unquenched, I peer upon Pandora’s box, impatiently destiny waits
You do not have to be perfect, you are perfect to me
My deepest secrets revealed, my love proclaimed
I wait….

As my eyes close, my soul shivers
In my last breath, a faint whisper,
“aeternus eternus” ~ eternal, everlasting, without end……
