Africa’s Destiny Poem by Astell Collins

Africa’s Destiny

What have we done with our liberty?
And why have we neglected our responsibility?
We are to discover our destiny
Both as individuals and as the nations of Africa collectively
Take a moment and be mindful of your specific country
Weakened by the effects of the adversary

As a people, we are as strong as the weakest among us
And as a nation, our wealth is reflected in the impecunious
Our accountabilities are to the youths, our inevitable future
Just as our alliances are to those who give support in times of failure

Yes our hearts were broken
But should we allow our souls to be taken
If we still believe that all that glitters is gold
Then we have perilously began to live the story untold

I couldn't agree more! Nicely written.
