African Child's Dream Poem by George Samuel

African Child's Dream

Bear foot to school
Days when downtown hot like coals
Their footsteps an inspiring lesson
On Sahara a ransom fo daughters and sons
From a far distance, they came

Walk hastily and ghastly home
Like little foxes
Bearing African history boxes
Their fun and fights
Where struggle to keep the African rights

If the cried their tears form a stream
That gave birth to the African child dream
To be brave
They defile they grave
To keep a dream they could not kill
A dream they could not steal
