After The Long Anxiety Poem by Shalom Freedman

After The Long Anxiety

And despair of the day
Peace comes in the evening-
At this time
There is nothing any longer to prove-
There is no more summer heat

There is just the night now
The long dark night-
And
Just to be
And to breathe
For as long as he can-
