Against Simplicity Poem by Bill Marcy

Against Simplicity

Take the time to tour the world
Behold its many mysteries
Such as how we stay afloat
In the stormy sea of history

Prevailing to partake in ponderation pure
we stumbled humbly from the (un) shore
to the maritime chasm: electric spasms,
an eclectic hectic spectacle of protoplasm

Rising from the mud of simplicity
we trembled tremulously in search of the audacity
to adapt and to overcome the adversity
to increase by magnitude our brain capacity

So join the fight against our entropic demise
by defending our ephemeral speck of space-time
from the surly sands whose harrowing hands can capsize
the most enduring complexity without reason or rhyme

Calling all men:
to find the clay to mold pillars of creation
to climb the way to hold the gods' approbation
to break free of the confines of routine's placation
to take thee to the gold mines of reconciliation
to avoid the probabilistic surmise of apocalyptic devastation

And play for fools the gears of fate
whose bells strike louder sans abate
Ignite the fuse of brilliant minds
whose potent answers halt the grind

Take the time to rule the world
Control its many mysteries
Cohere in sync, ride the flow
Pierce the future like a laser beam
