Alas! Our country is doomed to hell,
The freedom palace is up in flames swell!

Fie! Came a horde of invaders
And your land plundered!

Smashed through your defences, they did!
Attack them like a swarm of locusts—of them be rid.

Fie! Crown of Freedom they have looted away—
Yet unmoving like the dead you stay!
