Alcohol Poem by nicola burkett

Alcohol

Rating: 5.0

To an alcoholic the drink can heal
The pain and numbness that they feel
From the moment that they first swallow
Until the bottle winds up hollow
They’re on an automatic high
Floating high up towards the sky
But it seems the come-down brings them to the start
And it’s back to mending their broken heart
