My bag is packed and I'm ready to go,
And as I look around one last time,
I can't find one damn thing that I'll miss,
Of happiness, this was no paradigm
There's no one to walk me to the station,
So I've packed just what I can carry,
No time will be wasted on good-byes,
The train's leaving, and I must not tarry
My bag is light, just a few memories
Of dearest friends I met in my youth,
Those were some of my happiest days,
(I should have left then, to tell you the truth)
For as the years passed I started to doubt
That happiness would again find me,
While I walked, loneliness held my hand,
And I yearned for what I left behind me
Then, perhaps out of mercy or pity,
Love came to sweeten my hours of woe,
Just a fleeting memory of love,
And yet so precious, I can't let it go
I pray I'm allowed to keep it with me,
It's my heart and soul, all wrapped in one,
Should I be denied this last request,
Then surely, life will be over and done
For love is what grants us life eternal,
Love's fire we must never relinquish,
The body may fail, the voice be stilled,
But love's flame death can never extinguish!

I think a paradigm and a nickel equals two bits. ====================================== On Lora Colon's Poem: All Aboard! ....... (my 'echo') If you had left while but a (happy) youth, We would have missed you; it is the truth. Who would have stepped into your size 6 shoes? Who else, with mournful verse, would us amuse? ? Now do for us (before you go) just one last favor. Give Bri Edwards poems for 'showcase' fans to savor. Bri :) ========================= Now to finish reading yours. ___________ Extinguishing Love's Flames I've had a few love flames extinguished in my life, Including those I had for numbers 1 & 2 & 3 wife. Perhaps those flames were never quite big enough, So eventually it didn't take so very much to snuff..... them out! =========== so there! ! :))
