Alpha Poem by Tapiwa Matsika

Alpha

He brooded on his past victory
The grand past the famous history
His supremacy from naught became a mystery
The days are gone when he killed children to rub off his misery
Once an alpha
The wars of royalty brought him numerous Laurels
He slept on these and roared to scare his victims to loyalty
His low pitch roar faded wth his bones cracked in every war
Faded too was his gallantry
He lost his prowess from all corners of this round Earth
The corners they are four
The beta male was born
Out of hunger out of scorn
A carnivore who grew out of the dry feeding on corn
Killed he not for sport
Killed he not for respect
Chance took him to the throne
Way before the alpha was long gone
His story was to be compared to none
This earned him medals of honour
On these he basked and roared like a real alpha
Ate like a real alpha
Killed like a real alpha
The victims of his mishandling praised him for being the alpha
