Dr Zucker's Hamster Poem by Tapiwa Matsika

Dr Zucker's Hamster

There it was in the lab of blue and white
The mammal looks at his own cage and smiles
As he fails to understand his own diet
The chart remains away from his mind probably miles
As Dr Zucker prescribes another dose for the night
The addiction to a few capsules of statuses
Led to this dependency to virtual appraisal
He loses his reality touch from all stratus
Smiley smiles and smiley laughter all colossal
He lost all his real peers and cared less
As Dr Zucker brought more mods goodies
Master hamster ended up eroding his own privacy
He would tell us he played checkers with the oldies
He'd post when he is bathing thus forgoing his constituency
He'd tell us he is on drugs thus exposing all his follies
The global village was in his hands thanks to Dr Zucker
Poor hamster chose the world over family
The villagers never knew him he had less likes on his blogger
But he! He chose their fake likes he was so silly
With all connections around the world he never got better
A hamster who now was living the experiment
No freedom from his phone whose battery is almost dead
I tried to argue with his lifestyle with my assessment
His neck was crippled on his phone like he had a heavy head
He was not alone there was a dozen hamsters I realized
'Twas wiser for me to express my concern on Dr Zucker's ground
