Altschmerz Poem by Shraddha kanna

Altschmerz

Rating: 5.0

(An attempt at a Triolet.)
Is this what I've chosen to become?
trapped in the webs of complacency

traded in familiarity for freedom.
Is this what i've chosen to become?

I hear my calling fading into a distant hum.
congenial to my delusion, will i ever be free?
Is this what i've chosen to become?
mere prey to the webs of complacency.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
At most times in our life we take comfort in things that are easy and fit into our daily lives. we are 'fine' with the things we have even though we crib and are unhappy about it. because the only other option would be to.. make a change, make that difficult decision, break someones heart or someones rules, or to break from the routine.
songs have been written about breaking free? we just talk about it, sing about it and dream about it and push it to the corners of our minds and go to bed every night.

but tonight when you sleep? or the next time someone asks you.. how are you?
are you really fine?

Is this what i've chosen to become? mere prey to the webs of complacency. Sigh! Sometimes we are stuck in the web of relationships...And we are left with mere unanswered questions. Welcome to this group of poet Shraddha.

Unfortunayely I have very little idea about poetic forms being an ameteur poet, so I cannot really have much to say about the form.. But from an amateurs eye, it fits really well.. However, more importantly, I really loved your poem, the subject matter of it, and your 'notes'.. It is fine specimen of poetry for me.. Thank you for sharing and a big, hearty welcome to Poemhunter Shraddha :)
