Always Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Always

Forty words:

'This sceptred Island
and seat of Mars'
is not now a Keates
and Shakespeare dream.
Days of mist and fruitfulness
are days of mindless ruthlessness.
But to me the dream will always
be... 'England' with majestic
hills and meadows green.
