Am I Asking Too Much? Poem by Sylvie Morel

Am I Asking Too Much?

Am I asking too much?

If I request our favorite song, could you sing it with me?
Just one verse from the chorus; we don’t have to sing in tune.

Am I asking… too much?

For your eyes to be wide open when I tell you the same old story?
Pretend for me, that we haven’t been around this block before.

Am I – asking too much?

Now and then, could you give me your suggestions?
I feel like the only acrobat in this circus; bend a little, for me, darling.

I am asking too much? I knew you would say that.
Now I feel like the circus clown; you’re laughing.
