Among Your Absence Poem by Brian David Holmes

Among Your Absence

As I watched you sit their in pain,
God called his angels to your side
and as they lifted your soul into heaven
I sat back and I cried
Among your absence, I could only think of you
the way you laugh, the way you smile
the way you brought happiness to all you knew
as the Angel of Death took you into his arms
I began to look back on all the lives you have charmed
Among your absence, I had felt so alone
but I must have been lucky to know this love you have shown
so many memories worth more than gold
just the warmth of your smile kept us out of the cold
now I watched as you slowly slipped away
and somewhere among the absence, I knew we would meet again,
up in heaven one day.
