An Angel With Four Legs. Poem by D.A. Woods

An Angel With Four Legs.

Rating: 4.5

I've known you for a little while and the type of dog you are,
listened to my problems, you cleaned my tear stained face as you broke into my heart.
Of all of your own pain, you kept it deep inside,
no mammal on Gods green earth should've had to bare,
from day one I felt your love and cradled yours as I began to care.

Through all of our heartaches, through our times of despair,
times you brought joy with that big smile waiting for me to return on top of the stairs.
I've seen you bring smiles to everyones faces, on those you've ever knew,
even those with frosty stares
It reflected back all because of that spirit inside you,
as you begun to care.

You were sent down from above to help me emotionally,
I hope you know I love you before you leave me,
You're returning back home, I guess your job here is done.
The love and pain will always remain,
my little man, my best friend,
and I'll always think of you with every rising sun until all the days are done.

I hope to see you again one day and I hope you'll recognise my voice, recognise my face, recognise my scent as you sniff the air.
So until then we'll have to part and say our goodbyes because you've now got to leave, help another soul elsewhere,
to show them once again love and how you care.

So We'll have to part and say goodbye with tears of sadness and tears of joy,
even though this sullen heart knows how much you cared.
So goodnight my little saviour, my shining star, my candle in the darkness, my little Buddy, my four legged little boy.

Dog is the symbol of loyality; it's savior, yes, it's friend of heart; nice to read your poem through empathy.

Very good poem, if you have time I have similar ones, In Memory of Clara and For Clara. Just type in Clara snd they should both come up.
