An Extended Eco-Critical Reading Of Indian English Poetry

I coming to learn and read more
About Ramanujan's Snakes and Striders,
Moving in the company of
Astrologers, astronomers and palmists,
Fortune-tellers, folklorists
Seeing water striders, offering milk to nagas
On Naga-panchami,
Talking of Madurai and the Vaikai river in A River,
Daruwalla's The Ghagha in Spate, Pestilence,
Bond's Lone Fox Dancing, Banyan Tree.
I Roam No More.

Nissim as a bicchuman, a scorpion man
Writing about Night of the Scorpion,
Island just like Auden's Look, Stranger,
Masefield's Sea Fever,
Jussawalla's Sea, Breeze, Bombay, let us,
Taking us back to Kipling's Bombay
And the history of the island,
Arun Kolatkar's Kala Ghoda art and commercial campus.

The tree poems, that read we,
The Felling of the Banyan Tree by Dilip Chitre,
On Killing A Tree by Gieve Patel,
Ruskin Bond's Banyan Tree,
Taking to the green discussion of
Relationship man and trees,
A study in interrelationship and interdependence,
Maters connected to green space.
