An Imprisoned Soul Poem by Arun Maji

An Imprisoned Soul

You are near yet so far.

I want to sing to your heart
But I cannot.
My pride stands tall before me,
My past pulls me behind,
Mr fear frightens me,
My belief shadows my path to you.

How can love fly
When its wings are tied
With strings of greed fear and jealousy?
How can love sing
When its throat is gagged with
Doubt and mistrust?

But don't abandon me o love
Don't abandon me in darkness.
Please, keep smiling to me.
May be one day
The light in your smile
Would light up dungeon in my heart.

Tell me o love,
What else can free me from eternal suffering
than your love?
