An Unprepared Disrespect Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

An Unprepared Disrespect

The more one learns,
Less they will admit...
Of a knowing of anything.
To volunteer it.

With this done to let someone else,
Trying to impress others...
Of a knowing of everything.
But not know when to stop,
Opening their mouth.
Letting nothing but ignorance,
To come out of it.

Proving this,
To have much more experience,
Than those listening.
With heads to bow.
Eyes to close.
And hoping God will keep them,
From laughing out loud disrespectfully.
Done to do this as best as they can.

However...
There are times,
When even God can not prevent...
What is attempted.
By one unsuspecting,
To hear in disbelief...
A total disconnection from reality.
Even if the intention meant,
To sit silently.
Can no longer be kept to oneself!

"I apologize.
I tried the best I could.
But...
I just couldn't take anymore.
And besides...
The others wiping tears from their eyes,
Ran out of tissue.
I came unprepared."
