Anambra Elects Poem by Victor Okechukwu Anyaegbuna

Anambra Elects

Rating: 5.0

Pregnant lions in the Anambra political landscape!
The buffalo is starved and full of bones!
White gutters of the roving blue clouds
Store boulders of water for a show of power….
Slides that may bury vision
And excavate humble hope
Where nations perish
For dearth of tangible true leaders.

Cubs seek and hunt humble winds
To test sliding nails through becoming paws
Freedoms of the wild
Empower daring risks that mangle life
In brash, unskilled courage
That springs forth and often recoils
To perish for want of tangible vision.

The flowing rivers declare war
In their serenity, calm and peaceful
When blood tangibly corrupts
And protesting souls stain the elements
That Jewish ancestors acclaimed
To begin a kindred well founded;
In the morass of skill and industry.

Now that the pregnant lions have been starved
And let loose on the Anambra grasslands
To match the Hyena's bone crushing skills
On weak, hornless buffalos and antelopes,
In the catastrophe of poverty.
To deliver dead or weak lion cubs.
And race the will of a national war
Where victors and the vanquished will emerge
To sustain decline against itself.
