And The Lights Turn On And Off…. Poem by Rashida Mack

And The Lights Turn On And Off….

Imperialism,
Conquests gone awry,
Capitalism,
A free market for Scull and Bones,
Socialism,
Greedy thieves pawing in the night,
Stealing the hungry man’s last bite,
Nihilism,
On objective ground in moral truth,
Where do we stand?
And the lights turn on,
And off.
Deregulation,
A loss in checks and balance,
Privatization,
Self-interest prevails,
A stolen election,
9/11,
1,2,3,4,
I declare war,
One too many
Bodies bleeding oil,
The sub-prime mortgage industry
Crumbles,
lost shelter,
inflation
pops
Banks
Fall
Money
Stops
Markets
Drop
Yet golden parachutes fall from high in the sky.
So few men
Controlling too many lives,
making so many mistakes.
Lights out.
Until collective voices cried out,
No more….
