Annihilation Of Death Poem by Chris Mbala

Annihilation Of Death

Rating: 5.0

Oh! How foolish are these mere platitudes
of this wisdom of miry clay. I heard the
Declaration of my sentence from the East
How hard are these punishments against me,
Yes, i was bought low, surely my bones were
Hidden in the darkness, the land of dusts,
Where no soul lives; in the shadow of death
Seized by the power of the grave, fallen
Asleep without hope.

Yes, in a land where flesh is ruptured, breath
is receded, sinew fades like leaves, skin is
Ruined, where wisdom is overwhelmed by
the darkness, and all my powers diminished.

All the sudden, the mighty gates of the grave
Are shaken, and behold a great light descended
From the heaven, and the rhythm of the music
was pleasant in hearing and i made haste of
putting off all the armor of the darkness
By taking off the girder of these ashes, getting
rid of the clay on my feet, taking off the helmet
Of mortality, and left behind me the sword
Of unconsciousness.

And i cloth myself with incorruptible skin,
Rising in immortality, shinning as the brightness
Of the stars, purified and made blameless.
With pure and radiant body i shone with this
Light, then i step over the darkness with an
Extreme joy of grace in my feet and i make my way in the
Holy air, then i saw a writing saying; ' Death is
Swallowed up in victory'.
