Anniversary Of A Break-Up Poem by Deepthi Vincent

Anniversary Of A Break-Up

I know how you felt
I saw a sword piercing your soul
Blood oozing from the wound
When I said ‘it's all over'

You yelled and pleaded
Cursed me with all might
I stood there, crying silently
Coz I knew you had every right

I wanted to run to you
Hold you tight and kiss your brow
But my feet were glued, lips sealed
I pretended to be stone-hearted

Believe me, it was not easy
I ended myself in a blow
Before I decided to hurt you
Before I killed our Love

You lost your trust in me
I lost my hope in you
I saw our love suffocating
Moving towards the inevitable

Trust me, I had no choice
Our love was getting poisonous
Affecting everyone we cared for
Sowing around seeds of destruction

Thinking back, I have no regrets
Everything happens for good, I believe
The ache and pain, fades with time
What remains is, love and forgiveness

I wait for the sunny days
To see the happy, carefree you again
To leave behind all hard feelings
Walk the same roads together, once more

Someday when my crying's done I'm gonna wear a smile and walk in the sun I may be a fool But till then, darling, you'll never see me complain I'll do my crying in the rain From Aha's crying in the rain
