Another Day Poem by Bill Galvin

Another Day

Rating: 3.0

Another day breaks;
Another cup of coffee
Stares back at me
From a “Table for one, please”.

Sipping on loneliness;
Still so hard to adjust.

Another sun sets;
Another bar glass
Stares back at me
Seated on a lone bar stool.

“Carry on”, she implored.
“I’ll try”, I said, “if I must.”

Another night falls;
Another bed and pillow
Stare back at me
Unused and half empty.

No goodnight, no sweet dreams;
Like a solitary songbird, but hushed;
No reason to sing, nor to preen;
Life mate lost; his vigor crushed.

Another dream starts;
Another vision of you
Sweeps over me,
And fires for me enough spirit…

To see another day break;
To leave more tracks in the dust.
