Another Day Today Poem by Simon Odhiambo

Another Day Today

Hastily and steadily they cross to the lawn
Full of mist but still safe from the cars that roll
No one talks to the other but quickly they move
They are all in a patterned hurry this day that goes

One will be asking questions about a post
The other will answer in stress and boast
One will be calling the succesful ones to a board
The other hoping to be the success to be given a nod

Now they rest at midday, the sun is up and still hot
The hurry is gone, and so is the mist from the greens
Sun has done its part for the day
And so have these sons for the pay
Still not talking to each other, though common in purpose

They yawn and place their ribs to a nest and rest
Hunger will be gone by the time they awake in the morn
Their lives so programmed and rehearsed they know
Tomorrow will be the same, may be a little faster

Funny. The monotony of life, that people live like robots. I like this Poem. A wonderful read.
