Anu Aunty Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

Anu Aunty

Anu aunty ate a candy
Before she went to bed,
Come morning and
Drowsily she woke up
Eating everyone's head.
‘Find my candy
Girls and boys, '
Howled she at the top of her voice.
‘I can't find it
Just check your stomach, '
Keen-eyed Asha then said.
‘Look, we shall get an X-Ray of your stomach
Major Uncle, Mohan, interjected. (Because he too knew the aunty very well.)
‘No, no, no,
Oh, no, no, no, "
Proclaimed the Aunty in a rush.
Quietly she had by then realized
Realized on second thought,
She herself had eaten the candy
The previous night before she went to bed.
Under a pillow, so she hid her face
Very confused and embarrassed,
With a wry smile, she then excused herself- Since an
X-Ray could spill her secret out.
Yes, Asha aunty later admitted
Zealously without much fuss,
"Alas, last night though I swallowed that soft candy,
But today, it almost swallowed me instead! "
