Anubis Poem by Kay Moore

Anubis

One night I had a vision, I know not - from where he came,
He came to spend some time with me, he didn't say his name.
I knew not of his coming, tho he made his presence felt,
His timing was perfection, while in my house he dwelt.
I didn't hear him knocking, he didn't use a door,
I turned to see him standing, there.....on the rumpus room slate floor.
Our eyes met in cold silence, I had to take a breath,
I knew I had to remember, with what strength I had left.
I didn't act surprised, while held within his stare,
I tried to memorise, exactly, what, was standing there.
Tall and slim and well dressed, sort of 'country' so to speak,
From the collar of his shirt, to the shiny shoes on feet.
I, knew, he woulld'nt harm me, spellbound, in his trance,
He came to give protection, then left without a glance.
He seemed to smile upon me, in an instant, he was gone,
I know not where he came from, or to where, that he had gone.
I didn't see him coming, I dinn't see him leave,
All he left behind him, all that I could perceive,
Was it hallucination, or did my eyes deceive?
And if I told the story, would any one believe.
I know that he will haunt me, maybe till I'm dead,
My mystery calling visitor, with
The body of a man, and a wolf made up the head.
