Apart Poem by Marissa Myers

When we first met
nothing emotionally could keep us apart
when we were physically apart
We were tied together with our hearts
It now seems like we're fading
going our separate ways
heading down different streets of life
what used to seem like yesterday
now seems so far away
It has become a distant memory
the closeness we had
it makes me angry
but it also makes me sad
I know this shows we're growing
But why do we have to grow apart
and in different directions
Why cant we end the race of life with the
same closeness we had at the start
I guess you'll go your way
And I'll go mine
We will both grow in our talents
and let our talents shine
If we end the race together
That would be great
and if we don't
that will be a shame
If we do end up lost
we will both be fine
But lets hope that doesn't happen
Let that be our prayer at night.
