Are We Yet So Dumb? (2) Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Are We Yet So Dumb? (2)

We seek the truth of all but God
We waste our time in gaol
Then just like fools we think it odd
When lives begin to fail

We see the wisest come to fall
Both rich and poor fall prey
The strongest men, whilst sleek and tall
We watch on earth decay

Man’s seventy years is like a breath
A twinkling of an eye
Though flesh and bone, meets certain death
Yet spirits never die

Eternal flame eternal pain
Forever in darkness bound
For clemency, they’ll cry in vain
For none in hell is found

Its time to rise, be wide awake
Receive of Jesus’ love
Be shrewd just like a wily snake
And gentle as a dove

Receive God’s Oil, Salvation’s hand
Allow your cup to fill
Birth righteousness as Jesus planned
Submit to Heaven’s will

Let wisdom take a look inside
Let prudence guide each thought
Cast out your doubts your foolish pride
Believe The Lord’s report

The time of grace is here and now
God’s pardon is at hand
We need in faith but humbly bow
Once truth we understand.
