Are You A Christian? Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Are You A Christian?

One day a knock came to my door
I opened it for two
They spoke of God of Heaven’s law
And asked me what I do

If I were Christian they enquired
If I would join their few
Saying the Bible was God inspired
And written by the Jew

Further saying The Lord could save
Could heal your broken heart
Could help you flee both death and grave
Allowing a brand new start

Is Heaven’s word your daily bread?
Does it with your life agree?
Or do you walk as though you’re dead
You fail The Truth to see?

Do you speak as one full of grace?
Your thoughts are soaked in love
You consider God always
Mindful of life above

Have you God, confessed all your shame?
Repented your deeds of sin
You’re graced as host to Heaven’s Flame
His Promise from above

How truly blessed I was that day
Learning of Heaven’s love
And when I heard about The Way
Sinners may rise above

So now in turn I’m asking you
Are you of Christ like me?
And if you’d like to live anew
Once Truth has set you free
