Are You There? Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Are You There?

Rating: 4.3

I feel a little foolish here
A little strange right now
Even to the verge of fear
I close my eyes and bow

If you’re real God just let me know
Just let this torment cease
Or where else can anyone go
To find themselves some peace

I’m praying here bending my knees
I’m here crying to you!
If you are real then show me please
At least a little clue

Can you see me banging the floor?
Face grimacing in pain
Oh God! How can I know for sure?
Or is it all in vain?

But if you’re real, then there must be
Something here to find
For me to know to hear or see
How can I be that blind?

Surely there must be something there
Or someone who can tell
There has to be something somewhere
To save us from this hell

There must! Be somebody out there
Or else there’s something odd
How come we’ve all these things to share?
If there isn’t a God

So here I am God here am I
Praying as You can see
Don’t let me as a sinner die
Come down and save me…..
