Are You There Lord Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Are You There Lord

Disregarding my Father’s name
Denying Christ His Son
How long I lived in sin and shame
How long the devil won

The Truth was there for me to learn!
To change my wayward mind
Am I a fool yet still to turn?
The treadmill of the blind

Are You there Lord are You there?
Please hear my fervent cry
Craving a word that You would share
From glory’s throne on high

Please hear my knocking at Your door
Please spare me from Your wrath
My eyes were blind but yet no more
I’ve seen my foolish path

I’ve seen the devil’s cunning guise
His evil clever snares
But Truth has opened wide my eyes
And shown me someone cares

I bless the day I found my King
I praise Your Seed who died
Surely I’m blessed by grace to sing
Of true love multiplied

I’m here that now Your will be done
I’m here because You care
Because of Christ Your Lamb & Son
Has endless life to share

So once again I’m calling You
Upon my knees I pray
Allow me join Your faithful few
Through Jesus’ blood today
