Armageddon Poem by Balram Cheruparamabil

Armageddon

Towering figures of dazzling light,
Plunge into the savage fight,
Dark creatures of the night,
Match them in their stunning might.

Fearsome weapons array on either side,
Arcane, from them lightning flashes bright,
Dark and light, wrong and right,
Locked in mortal combat as magic arrows take flight.

The toll mounts on either side,
Then into the fray the angels ride,
Their horses shake the ground with their thunderous stride,
As the feeble hearted run and hide.

Winged demons then sweep low,
Fire from their mouths strike fatal blows,
A river of blood starts to flow,
As the morning sun starts to glow.

The battlefield resounds with cries of pain,
As Satan strides in clear and plain,
The soldiers of light fall one by one,
As his might blazes forth, a malignant sun.

Behold! The darkness looms strong and bold,
As the light is slowly backwards rolled,
Then a clap of thunder sounds out loud,
As lightning tears asunder the clouds.

Enters the battle one mightier than all,
As darkness in its tracks does stall,
The demon horde breaks its rank and flees,
As his absolute master in strength each one sees.

Peace reigns as the dark lord finally is turned back,
And he disappears in a burst of black,
His warning though hangs heavy in the air,
'You win today but next time beware.'

Cursed am I by second sight,
To witness visions that no mortals might,
The scenes flash constantly before my eyes,
And the fear turns my blood to ice.

Not much longer can I take this strain,
Slowly but surely I am being driven insane,
But the ballad of the Gods must be sung,
For this I am an instrument carefully strung.

The lines flow out on their own,
As my own will they fully consume,
No chance of escape is there for me,
Never ever can I break free.
