Art Of Poetry Poem by Donna McCord

Art Of Poetry

Written words or sentiments upon a virgin page
Will never lose their brilliance, nor will they die with age
Speaking aloud about the pain your heart is going through
Can never be retracted or unspoken when you do.

So take a pen and paper and write your feelings in a verse
And then forever after those who read it can converse
And tell others what you felt was dire enough to write it down
Then the poem you created can then be passed around.

And by doing this you may just save yourself a life of pain
Because if you write before you speak you have everything to gain.
You might just want to tear it up and throw the pain away
Or then again you may find that what you wrote you meant to say

And who knows how many people can relate to what you wrote
The best Poets of the world got their start this way I’m told
And maybe one day you’ll reflect upon this poem you are reading
And agree with me that poetry in this form is also healing.
