Artful Gesture Poem by Ima Ryma

Artful Gesture

I saw a human painting me.
A Sumi-e I did hear him say,
Japanese black ink painting be,
So I decided I would stay.
I tried to stay still with a smile,
Because this painter seemed sincere.
I waited patiently the while,
To model well while I was here.
When the painting was done, I went
And found some paper and ink black,
As it was my plan to present
This painter with a painting back.

So I painted a Sumi-e that
Expressed my thank you from this cat.
