As Love Should Be Poem by Andrew Degen

As Love Should Be

Through sorrowful eyes
I saw upon her
tears of sadness drown her heart
as she soaks in her depression
a puddle becomes a pond
as a river flows into and ocean
the one I seek is no more
beaten by her burdens
she looks to me
to help her so
though I know now what I must do
comfort becomes her friend
as I provide that cushion
she lays upon me
her sorrows are frightened
with confidence boosted
she stands
gleefully
as she watches me
my every move
to see what I might do
then as she leans
takes my hand
and leads me
our paths combine
hers and mine
enternally entertwined
as one
