As My Eyes Close Poem by Autumn Christina Adair

As My Eyes Close

I’m walking down a long, narrow, cold corridor
The hairs on my neck stand strong with each step
I see a dark, familiar figure waiting at the end
As I edge closer with caution, I recognise this person
He smiles at me, eyes gleaming
The corridor is alit with a ray of light, like god is smiling
I open my mouth as to speak, but words will not follow
I’m where I’ve sought to be for years
Staring at his beautiful face, his old skin, his warm aura
Running, as hard as I can, I finally find his arms
As he was there a not a second ago, my heart sinks
Where is he? Gone again? Not again!
I see myself dropp to my knee’s, weeping helplessly
Where am I now? As I open these tear soaked eyes of mine
I see pink surround me, a mirror, a shelf, a duvet
That’s when I know, its happened again, my hopes stolen
