Asking God In Prayer Poem by Luke Easter

Asking God In Prayer

Rating: 0.5

Believe you’ve received what has been asked for,
And, whatever you have prayed regarding make sure,
It will also benefit the kingdom of our heavenly Father,
Otherwise, you are wasting your time so don’t bother.

How can you say that and exactly how will I know?
Pretend the prayer’s been answered, now does it show?
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit in a positive light?
Is it hard to figure out if the answer is wrong or right?

Just one or two questions just might be okay,
But if it takes all night and most of the next day,
Is this something you’d give to your daughter or son?
Or tell them, “My child move on to the next one.”

I believe when asking it is, “I am and not if, ”
However, be smart when giving special gifts,
I’d never give my twelve year-old car keys,
No matter how much she cried and begged please.

Sure God wants you healed and well again,
But, not if your purpose is to turn around and sin,
There’s enough turmoil going on in the world today,
What happens when murders are released & sent on their way?

Is it something of a personal nature or a selfish ambition?
Seeking the spouse of another with whom you are smitten?
An evil thought, harming others, a never-ending lustful desire?
Put out or start and maybe add fuel to an already burning fire?

Before seeking a lover, ever think about a faith-believing friend?
An abusive situation would you want to be the one God did send?
A Christian somebody for a special night who will show you around,
But not with so much make-up that you’d think the circus was in town.

Maybe a circumstance of which you look forward to being a part?
Not mistreating, abusing, taking advantage, breaking your heart,
That person or social group of people while looking for a new start,
To appreciate not as a crayon drawing but a Rembrandt work of art.

Don’t begin dwelling on something or thinking Mr. And Mrs. Right,
Until your heart is pure and the attached cranium is screwed on tight,
When seeking to live a dream, first be sure for all concerned it’s fair,
Who wants to live a fantasy turning out to be one hell of a nightmare?

Why pursue a person or group you know are only seeking to hurt?
Doesn’t it make sense you’d more likely find your equal in church?
Many times two are united as one after introductions at a funeral home,
Before going any farther the smart thing is to leave well enough alone.

God will forever know the true intentions going on inside the heart,
Is your seeking bringing you closer or spreading further/farther apart?
Will it stand the test of time should a storm you’ll have to endure?
Might you be ashamed of the outcome because you’re no longer sure?

Matthew 24 “whoever heareth and does these sayings is a wise man, ”
Verse 26 “but he who hears and doeth not is a fool building on sand, ”
Diligence in prayer by a doctrine of faith shapes your circumstance,
Blowing wind, beating rain & floods destroys those relying on chance.

We are all born as twins and they reside on the inside of our mind,
One is deceitful, evil, jealous, while the other is caring, forgiving, kind,
The first only pray for their self, the second mirrors the needs of all,
In the face of adversity #1 will run like a coward, # 2 will stand tall.

Have you ever seen the show, “America’s Most Wanted? ”
Would you move into a house you believe to be haunted?
Treat someone with a present for which they would not care?
Take all these things into account before “Asking GOD In Prayer.”
