The blistering heat, the bitter cold
The tragically young, the tellingly old
The classically clean veiled by an asphalt sheen
Unread scriptures that reveal what life really means
Wilting flowers will bloom in season
Showered by the radiance of social reason
As ancient cities lost & forgot
The untold fabric of which legends are wrought
As the starry skies dim from city lights
The grandeur of a people heal their plights
As angry as a Vesuvian child
As sacred as the untouched wild
A face that tells the truth of a god
Cast from Eden across Earth they trod
Secret mothers & forsaken daughters
Oppressed by the great deluge of waters
Reflected upon their surface to those who look
Like the words of a story upon the pages of a book
Asphalt Ladies, as the ancient goddess, weep in silence
Their comforting is the cure to manmade global violence
