At Last, We Meet. Poem by Midnight Clarity

At Last, We Meet.

What if we do not please
each other? What shall we say
if when you look at me
I am not your dream?
You will smile and kiss
my forehead
and we will go out to dinner
laugh and talk and make jokes
of how we might have been lovers
in another lifetime.

If when I look at you I do not drown
in your green eyes
I shall kiss your cheek
and smile
and we will go out to dinner
and laugh and talk and make jokes

and perhaps by the end of dinner
you will see your dream
and I will be drowning
and our smiles will hold the promise
of passion to go with
our love
