I have seen, too many times,
the sun at twilight of lives,
giving birth to someone else…
I have felt my days
sinking with it, in darkness;
swallowing the days of my life:
reducing my existence…
Strong currents of courage
have pulled me imperceptibly,
but certainly, to self-abnegation;
I have sensed my ephemerality
in the eternity of the Elements,
and their constancy has been beckoning
at my time; yet, I do not envy them!
They shelter my eternal soul
with their immortality:
for it is part of their substance;
therefore, I do not envy them:
My breath is the energy of the Atmosphere,
my body is the gravitation of the Earth:
I am their child, perpetually re-born,
cradling my life to sleep, each time
at the bosom of Planet Earth.
A fabulous poem! Liked your penultimate stanza most! Brilliantly composed.....10/10
