Tom J. Mariani (January 1948 / San Francisco, CA)

What do you think this poem is about?

At The Speed of Light, What Word Pops Up?

It's not now called evesdropping.
No one is right outside,
Standing under your eves.
Not right now.

Where are they standing,
Standing by, while software
Scans, listens, but does not record,
Until that word is recognized?

Who knows what that word is?
In the fictional movie,
'The Bourne Ultimatum, '
The word was 'Blackbrier.'

That's what popped up the red flags
On all our spies computer screens:
Like someone looked the Old Testament God
In the eye and shouted His name.

That was fiction, right?
One word can't trigger all that?
Excuse me.
There's a knock on my door.

TOM, STILL TIMELY CONSIDERING BUSH'S LEGACY. WHENEVER I'D CONJECTURE ABOUT THE 'MAN'(KIND/GENTLE WAY OF PUTTING IT) , OFTEN REFERRING TO HIM AS 'BUSHIE', MY COMPUTER WOULD WOBBLE BACK AND FORTH, GO SILENT, IMAGES BLUR AND FLICKER AND THEN START WHAT WOULD/COULD BE COMPARED TO HEAD MOVEMENTS. (JUST JOKING, BUT SANITY/RESPECT MUST BE RESTORED IN THIS COUNTRY.) AS ALWAYS, YOUR INSIGHTFUL WORDS ARE RIGHT ON. MY BEST, CAROL

    Hi Tom,
That happened to me once. Before you were born.

Nice poem Tom. Might be a bit late to get paranoid though. 'They' have been watching us for years.
