August 2nd,1972 Poem by JOHNNY COBB

August 2nd,1972

August 2nd,1972
Maybe a routine day for you.
Lives were eternally changed that day
For we met Jesus in Bonifay.

A northwest Florida summer church camp
With 200 teenage souls to reach.
Rev. Dean was inspired to hear us say
'My, that Brother Jim sure can preach'.

Bible study, volleyball, fellowship
Pingpong games and swimming in the creek.
The rustic old dorms we stayed in...
Just a wonderful Methodist week.

Fourteen youth from Perry Hill
Joined dozens for the altar call.
God's Spirit moved upon us that night
As we sang 'I Surrender All'.

Thirty years have come and gone
Since I made that decision so fateful.
Standing here today in Yellowstone Park
God's love is as constant as Old Faithful!
