August Visit Poem by Robert Eckstein

August Visit

We three walk at night,
I, and yourself, and yourself
Again, a stranger.

Truth and lie combine
When one says, 'I love you, and
I need you to live'.

Frigidly you sit
Then curl and lie in my lap
Again a kitten.

The train has now come
To take you away. The sun
Frames you in the door.
